Artist Statement

"My fascination with oil paintings began as a child when my parents would take me to art museums to view the various exhibits. This is when I fell in love with the style of the masters. I was and still am amazed at the detail they created using oil paint. I have always dreamed of painting using similar techniques. Like the masters, I use glazes and sculpt the paint to create the depth and feeling of the painting. Mixing paints from primary colors gives me great satisfaction when the color is exactly the way I imagined it. I enjoy painting with a lot of color, so this is one way a subject is selected for my paintings. Another way a subject is decided upon is by the detail it has and the challenge I will get from it. My paintings are a variety of subjects to hold my interest. I am usually working on multiple paintings of totally different subjects at the same time. Viewing paintings in the museums always gave me a good feeling. This is my goal for the purchaser of my paintings."
